Karumba Recreation Club

The Karumba Recreation Club is a not for profit community Club providing sport and recreation facilities for members and visitors.

This includes the Clubs Bowling Green and 9 hole Golf Course, the Club house for Darts and Pool as well as various sporting events and community activities throughout the year.

Memberships are available:

• $22 standard annual membership or $16.50 for Pensioners and 'Country' classified residents (as per Club Constitution)
• additional $16.50 per annum for Golf
• additional $16.50 per annum for Bowls

Anyone attending the Club for any reason - and living within a 15km radius of the Club is required to be a current member.  Visitors living outside the 15km radius can attend the Club and sign the Visitors book.  Anyone attending on more than 3 occasions in a 12 month period is required to become a member.

The Club holds a Club Liquor Licence and there are various social activities and events held throughout the year.  If you are interested in using the Club for a celebration or function just contact one of the Executive who will be very happy to help you out.

What's happening at the Club:-

Weekly - Bingo on Tuesday nights - eyes down at 7.30pm - this is a fundraiser for the Karumba Childrens Centre

Bowls - all welcome

• Wednesday nights - social bowls from 4pm
• Thursday nights - bowls from 6pm (Gold Coin for tea/coffee)
• Sunday morning - bowls from 9am

 There is an honesty box at the bowling green for anyone wishing to have a game - a half hour roll up is free otherwise it is $8 for visitors and $5 for members

Golf - all welcome

• Thursday Golf from 7.30am
• Sunday Golf from 7.30am

There is an honesty box on the course for anyone who would like to play at other times - $8 per game for visitors and $5 per game for members.

On Sunday afternoons there is a weekly MEMBERS DRAW at 5pm.  Members must be in attendance to win and the prize is currently a voucher from 1st Choice Liquor Store in Cairns - starting value on 15th May was $300 increasing by $10 per week while it hasn't been won.

Member - Col Kemp won the previous Members Draw prize which was a voucher from Dan Murphys to the value of $380 on 8th May, 2011.

NEXT STATE OF ORIGIN - 15th June

The Club will hold another Pies and Prawns night starting from 6pm - every one is welcome.  Come and cheer on your side and enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the Club.

Next General Meeting is Monday 20th June at 6pm - the AGM date and details will be finalised at this meeting.

• July 2nd - Cairns to Karumba - Coast to Coast Bike Ride arrives in Karumba and has lunch at the Club
• July 16th & 17th - Karumba Golf Open
• August 20th - Karumba Katch Seafood Festival - Barramundi Discovery Centre major fund raiser
• October 7th - Gulf of Carpentaria Commercial Fishermans Association meeting and end of year function
• November 4th to 6th - Barra, Beef & Bulldust Expos - including tours, stalls, forums, demonstrations and entertainment including Troy Casser-Daley, Mary G, David Hudson and Shane Howard
