Photos from the night before Cyclone Charlotte in early January 2009

Karumba Point beach in front of Lions Park looking towards Jay Seas Holiday Units and End of the Road Motel - evening before Cyclone Charlotte crossed the coast.

Looking down Landsborough Street, Karumba Point with Palmer Street intersection (running left to right) - back corner of Sunset Caravan Park to the right and Awesome Annies Supermarket just out of picture on the left - taken the night before Cyclone Charlotte crosses the coast with King Tide and storm surge bringing water in around lower lying areas.

King Tides and storm surges combined to bring water levels higher - this is at Karumba Point near the boat ramp - boardwalk to the left under water - and car park out of picture to the left.

These 2 photos provided by Kerry Brennan from Pilots Rest Holiday House at Karumba Point - this is approximately 6km from the Karumba Point turn off - looking down the road towards Normanton - nothing but water as far as the eye can see - 15th January, 2009.

The following photos are from Lyn and Tex Battle at Sweers Island during and following Cyclone Charlotte.

Thanks to Paul from Fisheries in Karumba for the next few photos - including our recent visitor to the Karumba Point beach - certainly left his mark.......how are you at reading the sand?

One of the boys in blue?  Or just one Croc to another?  Shows our visitor had a rather large boot to fill....

Every picture tells a story - wonder what or who disturbed the early morning siesta?

Taken on the Karumba side of Normanton - the bridge is nearly under

Below are photos from Erin Weir, and forwarded from Kerry Brennan - this one shows the Karumba Golf Club in the top right hand corner flrying towards the Norman River Mouth in the background (just right of centre)
